Pamba receive sports gear


MWANZA based First Division league side, Pamba, have received sports gear worth 3.5m/- to boost the team’s race for promotion to the premiership.

The gear was handed to the team by the former secretary general, Aleem Alibhai. Speaking to the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ during the handing over occasion here, the team’s Chairman, Johnson James, thanked the sponsor for the support.

James called upon various football stakeholders in the region to support to join the sponsors in boosting the team’s performance. Alibhai who spoke briefly after handing over the gear, promised to continue supporting the team and he requested others to join him.

The gear which Alibhai provided to the team include two sets of Jersey, two sets of socks,18 shin guard, 10 balls, 60 bips, 142 football cones and three goalkeeper’s gloves. Meanwhile, Pamba FC head coach Mathias Wandiba has said the team has trained intensively ahead of the First Division League.

He said the team has been playing well in various preseason build-up matches and showed a great improvement. Wandiba said he will cooperate well with the team management to ensure they improve their team’s performance which he said is vital in their hunt for the premiership.

The First Division League will kick off on September 16, this year. The team, according to Wandiba has recruited 25 players needed for promotion mission. The players are Yunus Kassim, George William, David Julius, Datus Peter, Rashid Ali, Faisal Richard, Nassoro Said, Rashid Steven Maganga and Rashid Kondo.
